PASSENGER BOATS
Blyth Passenger Boats are engineered as long-term commercial assets for professional operators in the tourism, transport, and leisure sectors. Market demand continues to favour vessels in the 14–15 metre range, as this size offers an optimal balance between passenger capacity, stability, fuel efficiency, and regulatory flexibility.
Each vessel is designed around its specific operational profile, taking into account ocean-route conditions, sea states, loading patterns, and passenger movement. Hull form, structural layout, deck arrangement, seating configuration, and safety systems are carefully integrated to ensure reliable performance, operational efficiency, and most of all, passenger comfort throughout the vessel’s service life.
Blyth Catamarans has over 30 years of experience in the design and construction of passenger vessels and works closely with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) throughout the build process. This has resulted in a robust quality and compliance framework, including controlled factory environments, full material traceability, detailed build records, and independent surveyor inspections at key construction stages. These controls ensure consistent build quality and full compliance with applicable MCA codes.
All Blyth passenger boats are constructed using advanced resin infusion technology, a controlled manufacturing process that delivers measurable benefits to operators. Infusion ensures precise resin distribution and consistent fibre-to-resin ratios, resulting in stronger, lighter, and more uniform composite structures. Compared with traditional open-mould lamination, this method improves structural integrity, reduces excess resin weight, and enhances fatigue resistance.
For the operator, infusion technology translates into improved vessel performance and lower operating costs. Reduced structural weight supports better fuel efficiency, improved stability, and increased payload flexibility, while the high-quality laminate finish improves durability and reduces long-term maintenance requirements. The controlled process also minimises voids and variability, delivering predictable structural performance across the vessel.
A recent example of this capability is Blyth’s latest 15-metre passenger vessel, certified to MCA Small Seagoing Passenger Ships (SSPS) code with a licensed capacity of up to 110 passengers; granting her the right of all-year-round operation. This vessel was engineered to meet demanding commercial duty cycles while maintaining safe loading margins, ease of maintenance, and long-term operational reliability.
Blyth passenger boats are built with lifecycle performance in mind, focusing on structural longevity, practical systems access, and consistent build quality to support high utilisation rates and minimal downtime.
